# Test the receiving connection

> One click that tells you whether the account responds right now — and why the "Connected" badge alone proves nothing.

## What you will get

Knowing, in three seconds, whether the school can charge at this moment.

It is the first thing to do when someone says "charges stopped going out" — and
the last thing to do after connecting for the first time.

## Why the badge is not enough

The **Connected** badge, in the corner of the box, only means a connection is
**on record** for your school. It stays green even if the authorisation has
been revoked on Stripe's side.

**The test is what actually talks to the account.** That is why it exists as a
separate button.

## Step by step

**1. Open `Integrations › Payment Gateway`.**

**2. Click Test connection**, in the footer of the box, next to **Disconnect**.

**3. Read the answer beside the button.** It appears within seconds, without
reloading the page.

*The answer appears in green, between the button and Disconnect. Note that the account identifier comes with it — it is the same one shown under Account ID, and it lets you confirm the connection is to the right account.*

## The four possible answers

| What appears | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| **Connection active**, in green, followed by the identifier | Everything is fine right now | Nothing |
| **Connection failed. Check your credentials.** | The account did not respond, or the authorisation is no longer valid | Disconnect and connect again |
| **No credential configured.** | There has never been a connection for this school | Connect for the first time |
| **Network error. Try again.** | Your browser did not reach the system | Click again; if it persists, it is your internet |

The third only shows up in odd situations — usually the connection was removed
by someone else while your screen was open.

## The test issues nothing

It merely asks the payment service whether the account exists and responds. No
boleto is generated, no student is notified, no amount is moved. Click it as
often as you like.

## Testing is not the same as checking the methods

The test answers "does the account respond?". **Which payment methods are
enabled** is a different question, and the answer is just above, in the
**Accepted payment methods** box — with the **Refresh** link to ask again.

An account can pass the test and still not issue PIX, for example.

## If something goes wrong

> [erro]
> **The test says "Connection failed" and the badge still says Connected.**
> That is exactly what this button exists to reveal. The connection was revoked
> or expired on Stripe's side. The fix is to disconnect and connect again.
>
> **The test passes, but no charge goes out.** Then the connection is not the
> problem. Follow the checklist for a charge that was not issued — the suspects
> become the student's record and the payment method.
>
> **The identifier shown is not the account I expected.** The connection was
> made with a different account. Disconnect and redo it, picking the right one.
