# Fees, settlement time and reconciling your cash

> Who charges a fee, where to see the exact figure and why EduPay's total never matches the bank statement.

## The short answer

**EduPay takes no fee on what you receive from students.** The system
subscription is one thing; what the student pays is another, and it goes whole
into your school's account, minus only the fee of whoever processes the
payment.

That fee is Stripe's, not ours. We keep no percentage.

## Where to see the exact figure

On the `Integrations › Payment Gateway` screen there is the **Fees** link, in
the corner of the **ABOUT STRIPE** box, and the **View Stripe fees** link just
below the explanation. Both lead to the official table.

**Do not memorise a number from here.** Payment-service pricing changes, varies
by method and is sometimes negotiated by volume. Their table is the only source
that counts.

What can be said safely about the shape of it: **each payment method has a
different fee**, and card is usually the highest of the three — which matters
when you build a price list with a discount for boleto.

## When the money lands

The timing belongs to the receiving account, not to EduPay. It changes with the
payment method and with your account's history, and the Stripe dashboard shows
the forecast for each payout.

A rule of thumb that helps with cash planning: **PIX is the fastest, boleto
follows bank clearing and card takes the longest**, because it depends on the
instalment cycle.

## Why EduPay does not show a net amount

EduPay records the **installment**, not the payout. It knows the R$ 300.00
installment was paid; it does not know how much was deducted as a fee, nor in
which batch that amount went to your bank.

That is why the financial reports here talk about the amount **charged** and
the amount **received from the student** — never a net amount in the account.

## How to reconcile without going mad

They are two documents with different purposes, and they will not match line by
line:

| Where | What it answers |
|---|---|
| **EduPay** | Who paid, how much, for which installment and which enrollment |
| **Stripe dashboard** | How much actually came in, what fee was deducted and the day it hit the bank |

The reconciliation that works is **by period, not by installment**: add up what
EduPay says was paid in the month and compare with the gross monthly total in
the payments dashboard. The difference must be the sum of the fees — plus any
payments received outside the system.

## If something goes wrong

> [erro]
> **The amount that landed is smaller than the installment.** That is the fee.
> The payment service's statement shows the gross amount and the deduction
> separately.
>
> **EduPay says paid and the money has not landed.** Check the date: payment is
> confirmed before the payout. A boleto paid today does not land today.
>
> **The totals do not match at month end.** The suspects, in this order: fees,
> payments recorded by hand (which never went through the payment service), and
> charges paid at the end of one month and paid out at the start of the next.
